Building Blocks
The excitement is building. Nothing big is happening yet, but I'm beginning to push the foundational pieces into place... First brick - Tomorrow night I have plans to meet with my dad to have our first discussion about the wedding budget. I'm nervous and excited. It's a tough question to pose - "I know you want to be generous and help us pay for our wedding, but just HOW generous do you plan to be? Really? Only THAT much? Hmmmm...maybe we'll just continue to live in sin." Haha. Or, it could go the other way "You want to give us THAT much?? Wow - thanks! I'm sorry you'll have to retire in 20 years instead of the 2 like you planned, but I DO think an open bar is a necessity..." Of course, FI and I (that's short for Fiance which I learned along with many others on The Knot) plan to kick in as well. We're in our 30s and employed, so I have a hard time expecting my parents to pay for all of it. We'll find out tomorrow...
Second brick - Next Wednesday, May 23rd, my house will go on the market. WOW! I do realize that it is a horrible time to sell. That could translate into a lengthly time on the market (lots of regular cleaning for me in case of unexpected showings) and a lower price than ideal, possibly even lower I paid two years ago. In that case, I'm not sure I'd sell...but what is the other option? My bro's house in WI has been up for sale since September 2006!! Shit.
Third, Forth and Fifth bricks - We're headed to San Diego for Memorial Day weekend. That will involve looking at potential apartments as well as the church where we hope to get married and reception locations. Most exciting of which will be getting Mike out for a surf lesson. Wishful thinking, but I especially hope he loves it so we can someday do a sport together. I usually get shot down when it comes to active suggestions. (Brrtt! Brrrrt! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....Debbie Downer, here).
Finally, I dumped my Weight Watchers membership yesterday (altho I still have 2 weeks left). I've gained 6lbs since I first started seven weeks ago. WTF?? I think I can do better by NOT paying that much attention to what I eat AND finding a fitness goal - race - of sorts.
Now...on with the show!
